Speed Reading at University of Wisconsin at Madison
Madison, WI - February 18, 2009 - The Iris Organization, in coordination with the Greater University Tutoring Service (GUTS), offered free speed reading courses on Wednesday to students at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Over 100 students turned out for the event, filling up both classes that were offered. Students began the workshop by finding out there current reading speed. The average college student reads 150-250 words per minute (wpm).
Students attending the workshop learned basic speed reading techniques and took part in drills specifically designed to improve reading speed. By the end of the workshop, most students had made an improvement in their reading speed.
The Iris Organization helps college students learn speed reading skills to help them save time and get better grades. Iris has taught speed reading courses and classes at various universities throughout the U.S. in cities that include: Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Columbus, and Philadelphia.
Iris is also currently working with a number of Chicago Public Schools to help students learn more efficient reading skills.
