Chicago, IL - September, 29 2008 - The Iris Organization will be teaching speed reading techniques at the Chicago Public Library on October 4 and 8 to help students, parents and professionals read faster.
Anyone interested in attending the speed reading classes can register online at www.irisreading.com/cpl. Class space is limited and students should register ahead of time to guarantee a place in the class.
The free speed reading classes will teach basic tips and technqiques to increase reading speed and comprehension. Speed reading skills can be very useful in school and at work to increase productivity and efficiency.
Speed reading was first popularized in the 1960’s by Evelyn Wood, who became famous for teaching speed reading techniques to John F. Kennedy. Until the 1990’s her classes could be found on many college campuses through the United States. She passed away in 1995 at the age of 86.
“We want to pick up after the great legacy Evelyn Wood left,” said Paul Nowak, an instructor and class coordinator with the Iris Organization. “We’ve refined the original speed reading techniques to make them more applicable to today’s college student. In addition to reading their textbooks faster, we teach students to read faster on the computer screen using a newly developed technology called Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP).”
Students interested in learning more can watch free speed reading videos, otherwise known as online webinars, by visiting the Iris Organization’s website at www.irisreading.com/speedreadingwebinars. Students can also view future speed reading courses by visiting: www.irisreading.com/speedreadingclasses.
